How to Promote Your Business on Twitter
Businesses everywhere are using Twitter for business purposes. And why is that? You can link pages on your site to people who are potentially interested in going there, thus increasing traffic and hopefully benefitting your business. But how do you do this? Twitter Software have been going around for a long time, and it seems to increase in price as the number of people tweeting do. That is why I am going to help you with all the information you will need to benefit your business– for free.
First step in promoting your business on Twitter is actually getting a Twitter account. Alothough some companies strive on having others advertise on theirs and never get one, you are most productive and successful with having a company Twitter account. You should use your company name for the username, but if it is taken, get as close as possible. (And do not worry, people change their usernames sometimes and that name might become free. All you would have to do is go into settings to change your name).
Second step is NOT TO FOLLOW CELEBRITIES ON TWITTER. I state this in nearly every post. They do nothing but gain numbers in their followers. They will not follow you back, and they certainly will not advertise your company on their Twitter. Instead, follow other members of your company and people you know in real life to help spread the word. This is crucial to get some followers who will interact with you. So when others find your company Twitter, they will see you are willing to interact, and that you actually have followers. It will let them know you are a legit company.
Now, the most crucial part of this is NOT TO SPAM. There are automatic direct messages sent to all of your followers through APIs that may interest you. But trust me, I do not read direct messages. I could have gotten a direct message from a loved one but will not go to them because it is filled with spam from everyone else. If you wanted to be respected on Twitter, do not spam. You may post constantly on your Twitter that you updated your site, or anything relevant with a link back to your site. That is not spamming. But direct messaging is spam.
Here’s the fun part. There is this nifty feature on Twitter called “Search.” You will get live feed from everyone twittering the search criteria you requested. So, if you were a babysitter in LA, you would submit “babysitter LA” and find that some mother in LA posted “ANYONE LIVING IN LA WILLING TO WATCH 3 KIDS THIS FRIDAY NIGHT?” and that is where you follow them, reply, and interact with them. And from direct communication with them, you might as well set yourself on the fact that you will be watching this mother’s 3 kids this Friday night.
If you follow these steps, you WILL get business on Twitter. Sounds easy? Then why are you paying so much money on something so simple? Many programs will have you follow random people whom will never need your services. So the point of having them all is generally useless. Twittering your way to the Top in your business sounds very difficult, and sometimes it is. But after all that money you spend with no results, and spending no money, reading this article and working a few hours everyday in getting to know your customers, you will wonder why you did not think of this earlier.
