Obnoxious social media– in a nutshell.

After you’ve achieved a number of followers (it doesn’t necessarily have to be big), you might start to wonder why no one ever retweets you or responds to your tweets. When looking back at your tweets, you might have tweets like,
“Getting out of bed,” “Brushing teeth,” “Eating Food,” “Going to Work,” etc. But if you want someone to retweet you, they would not retweet the fact that you got out of bed. However, if you were to say “I just got out of bed and realized I
was wearing the clothes of a guy I was hanging out with last night” might spark some interest and you could get replies, retweets and more. Of course, I’m not saying that you HAVE to actually do this, and I’m not saying for you to actually
retweet this if it did not happen. You could tweak the activities you do with something to make someone wonder. What if that tweet was from a someone who was hanging out with their husband last night? Would that have really meant the same thing as what followers initially read? Of course not. Wit is nice for retweets,
but it is not mandatory.

Next step is to retweet others yourself. If you see something
funny, retweet it. And if someone else responds to it, retweet that as well. You
help the other person and yourself but getting both of you exposed to twitter.
The person you originally retweeted will get credit when you retweet the
response with their name in it as well. After you’ve established yourself with
being retweeted often, you should try to give links with awesome websites. If a
person really likes the site, they will retweet you, no doubt. (Unless they
don’t know how to retweet, then you are obviously out of a retweet).

There are also other types of communication in twitter, and to access that is the infamous @username. That is how you reply to someone. If you never respond to anyone, you will never get anywhere on twitter. People like to interact on twitter. That is the main purpose. But if you were to tweet everything you do, and no one says anything, what are you really doing but just typing some words on everything you are doing? Twitter was meant for you to do just that but also to interact with the other people on twitter, or “twitterverse.”

Take a look at my first 9 tweets on my page. Notice that 8 of the 9 either is a reply, or I am linking another follower.

Reply to get replies. That is a really good goal to set when you try to make yourself known on twitter. People enjoy those who interact with others. And you can be witty, or just type a response. I have a “good luck” up there, and a “Your moms a season.” They can vary in the replies, but you need to reply to others.

Normally, I like to find messages that you have NO idea what they mean. And she’s the perfect example of that. So what do I do? I reply.

And she replied back and I did too. This is how you get to know people. And people you don’t even know might retweet you more. To me, it is the people I reply back to the most is who retweets me, and adds me to their “#followfriday”
list. Remember this: If you never respond to anyone, you will never get anywhere on twitter.
